Fokus ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of all users — including children, teens, and adults. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Fokus platform, website, and mobile application.

1. About Fokus

Fokus is an ADHD support platform designed for children (ages 6–12), teens (ages 13–17), and adults (ages 18+). Because we serve users under the age of 13, we take children's privacy very seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

2. Children's Privacy (COPPA Notice)

For users under 13 years old: Fokus requires verifiable parental consent before collecting any personal information from children under 13. Parents or legal guardians must create the account on behalf of their child.

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
  • Parents may review, update, or request deletion of their child's personal information at any time by contacting us at lethalinjection967@gmail.com.
  • We do not share children's personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
  • We do not condition a child's participation in any activity on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
  • Children's data is stored securely and retained only as long as necessary to provide the service, or until a parent requests deletion.
  • If we discover we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

3. Information We Collect (All Users)

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information: name, email address, age group, and profile preferences
  • Child profiles: child's first name, age, and ADHD-related preferences (set by parent)
  • Support communications: messages you send us via email or our contact form
  • Podcast guest submissions: name, email, and story shared via our guest request form
  • Payment information: processed securely by Stripe; we do not store full card details

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data: features used, focus session duration, tasks completed, badges earned
  • Device information: browser type, operating system, device type
  • Cookies and local storage: session management, preferences, and analytics (see Section 7)
  • IP address: for security and fraud prevention

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and personalize the Fokus platform to your age group and needs
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Send account-related emails (login links, receipts, weekly parent digests)
  • Generate progress reports and insights for users and parents
  • Respond to support requests and podcast guest inquiries
  • Improve our platform through aggregated, anonymized usage analysis
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use children's data for targeted advertising.

5. Information Sharing

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), Supabase (data hosting) — each bound by data processing agreements
  • Legal compliance: when required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users
  • Business transfers: in the event of a merger or acquisition, with advance notice to users

We never sell, rent, or trade personal information to marketers or data brokers.

6. Data Retention

  • Active account data is retained as long as your account is active
  • You may request deletion of your account and data at any time
  • Children's data is deleted upon parental request within 30 days
  • Payment records are retained as required by law (typically 7 years)
  • Anonymized, aggregated analytics may be retained indefinitely

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: required for login, session management, and security
  • Preference cookies: remember your settings and consent choices
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how users interact with Fokus (Meta Pixel — you can opt out via our cookie banner)

You can manage cookie preferences via the banner that appears on your first visit, or by adjusting your browser settings. Declining analytics cookies will not affect core functionality.

We do not use cookies to track children under 13 for advertising purposes.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)
  • Withdraw consent at any time (for parents: withdraw consent for a child's account)

Fokus may link to third-party websites (e.g., Spotify for podcast content). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on our site. Continued use of Fokus after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For changes affecting children's data, we will obtain fresh parental consent as required by COPPA.
